I would just like to say, I hate scavenger hunts. And I hate class assigned scavenger hunts. They last forever, and you see all these awesome things you want to explore, but can’t because there’s a limited time limit and just too much to do.
Today we walked all over D.C. to visit these places and it wiped all of us out.
But it was nice meeting a few new people from my seminar, and learning the Metro system a little better. Still haven’t tried a bus yet, only trains.

Arrived into Washington DC today, at 7 a.m. I only got 1 hour of sleep on the plane over, which was unfortunate because I was trying not to sleep the night before so that I would be so tired I would get some sort of rest before my day started at school, other wise I would be too tired to completely function. I was mostly right.
After getting to Dulles Airport at 6 I took a supershuttle over to American University. It was very interesting because I met a lot of students in similar programs for studying in D.C. that are going to other schools like Georgetown and George Washington, talking about where they came from and where they’re going.
When I arrived at AU I picked up my necessary keys and rushed to my room, I wanted to sleep so bad but the RA, who was watching LOST for the first time of all things, mentioned breakfast, and I was so hungry I couldn’t wait.
The very first thing I noticed when getting out of the airport, by the way, is how cold it is. Every breath comes out in fog, but thanks to this brown jacket I was warm from the belly-up, except for my face. That being said I’ve also discovered a few of the sweaters work great too to keep out the cold, which surprised me because there isn’t much to them at all. Upon entering the dorms and my room I was greeted with a huge rush of hot hot air. The heater was on and the window was closed, I had to reverse both just to get the heat down, and eventually it went to room temp, I think the dorm heat balancing out the outdoors. Right now it’s raining, so I’m definitely going to have to close that window soon.
After breakfast, handled a few things with Orientation and got my ID. Went to the room to start unpacking what I could without actually claiming anything as my own, as my roommate did freshman year, before my new roommate John Favini arrived.
I passed a lot of the time with quiet conversation.
When John arrived he and his parents moved in lightning fast and unpacked mostly everything within an hour, amazingly. That’s him in photo 4.
Since he and I finished packing we went to dinner and met most of our floor mates since then, tidied up the room a bit. Tomorrow, hopefully I’ll get to visit and get trained for my internship at Grace Napolitano’s office, assuming these meetings end relatively early. Pics of room, before and after
